Welcome to Pioneer Secondary Academy

I am very honoured to be the Headteacher of Pioneer Secondary Academy (PSA) and under the new direction of SAT, PSA is embarking on an exciting new journey.

As a smaller than average secondary school, we are a community with a family atmosphere that allows students to gain confidence and forge new friendships quickly. In addition, we are able to ensure that all of our students are known, feel valued and are supported.

A child’s time at school leaves a significant impression on them, shaping the adult that they later become. This is a responsibility that we take seriously at PSA.

Through high expectations, our exam results speak for themselves, but we believe in developing well rounded individuals. At PSA we are committed to developing the leaders of tomorrow by creating as many opportunities as possible for students, based on what they’re passionate about. This tailored approach means that our enrichment programme constantly evolves depending on students’ requirements. Examples of what we have already offered includes: workshops led by the Global Equality Collective to educate students about injustices in the modern world, trips to watch the women’s Euros, martial arts and activities such as spoken word poetry and STEM sessions.

We aim to empower our students to navigate their own future through our student leadership programme. There are a range of opportunities for students to be involved in shaping the direction of our school through whole school projects, leading on school events and within subjects. We firmly believe that the development of the whole person is vital in order to be successful in a modern and evolving digital world.
