Important Update on Free School Meals – Changes from September 2026

Free School Meals

There are two categories of eligibility:

Targeted Free School Meals

Available to families receiving:

  • Universal Credit with annual net household earnings of £7,400 or less
  • Income-based Employment and Support Allowance
  • The Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Support under the No Recourse to Public Funds criteria

Eligible pupils receive free school meals and may also qualify for Pupil Premium funding, HAF support and help with home-to-school transport.

Expanded Free School Meals

Available to families receiving Universal Credit with annual net household earnings above £7,400. Pupils receive free school meals but do not qualify for the additional support listed above.

Eligibility remains in place until the end of the school year and will be checked annually.

How to apply

Please download and complete the application form below, then return it to the school office or email it to studentservices@psa-bucks.com

You should apply even if your child does not intend to take a school meal, as the school may receive additional funding to support their education.
